Die Hard 6 still on at Fox, receiving a rewrite from The Conjuring scribes

March 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in 2015 it was announced that Len Wiseman (Underworld) would be “reinventing” Die Hard with a sixth instalment in the Bruce Willis-headlined action series.

Although we’ve heard very little in the way of movement since, it seems that Die Hard 6 still remains a priority for 20th Century Fox as The Tracking Board is reporting Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring, House of Wax) have been brought in to rewrite the script for the film.

Assuming that Wiseman and Fox are sticking with their original plans, the sequel is reportedly going by the working title Die Hard: Year One, and will see Bruce Willis reprising the role of John McClane in the present day. However, in will intercut with a story set in the 1970s, featuring a younger actor portraying McClane as a regular cop in New York City.

Launching in 1988, the Die Hard franchise has spawned four sequels to date, the last in 2013, with over $1.4 billion in worldwide box office receipts.
