Ben Affleck talks Daredevil and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

October 5, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Ben Affleck has been doing the promotional rounds for his latest film Gone Girl, and of course much of the conversation has shifted to his upcoming role as The Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Affleck has been reluctant to give anything away, but he did take a moment to express his regrets over Daredevil during an interview with NPR, as well as stating how he feels confident about the 2016 DC ensemble…

“Indeed I have regrets about Daredevil. I have regrets about all the movies that I don’t think were executed properly… Look, if I thought we were remaking Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself … and that goes for other movies as well that I haven’t been happy with. You know, I’m hard on myself and I have exacting standards and I want to do excellent work and I don’t always succeed, but I think you have to start out with that drive. [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] was written by Chris Terrio, who wrote Argo, who’s not a comic guy. And it’s directed by Zack Snyder, who’s a incredibly magical sort of visual stylist who’s steeped in the comic world. And you have this sandwich of talents. I felt very confident about it. … I thought it would be nice to make one of these movies really, really good.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016 with Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) and Scoot McNairy (Argo) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
