The latest on Halloween 3 – new script being written

October 20, 2014 by Luke Owen

As usual, talk and speculation of Halloween 3 has been on form this year, with several sources saying various different things. But it looks like the movie could be making some headway into production…

During a very special screening of John Carpenter’s Halloween at Universal City Walk in Orlando (attended by ShockTillYouDrop.com), there was a post-showing conference with Halloween Horror Nights creative director Mike Aiello and current Halloween producer Malek Akkad (son of former Halloween producer Moustapha Akkad) who discussed the Halloween-themed maze that was featured at the theme park. But once that was over, Akkad gave an update on Halloween 3.

“It’s been a joy to work with so many creative people – ten films,” Akkad said of the franchise’s longevity. “We’re working on eleven as we speak. We’re working on a script right now. A new draft – perfect timing – is supposed to hit the day before Halloween. Hopefully my Halloween night reading will be a good read.”

However, Akkad would not give away any information on who is writing the new script.

The last time we saw Michael Myers on the big screen was Rob Zombie’s Halloween II in 2009, which made $40 million worldwide despite the poor reviews and reception. There was a period in time where we were going to get Halloween 3D, but that looks to have been ixnayed now.
