Nintendo reveals 3rd wave of Amiibo

November 11, 2014 by Tom Powter

Nintendo has revealed the third wave of Amiibo figures and it looks like a good set.

The characters included in this wave are Bowser, Sonic, Shulk, Mega Man, Meta Knight, Sheik, Ike, King Dedede, Rosalina & Luma, Toon Link and Lucario.

Finally two third party characters are receiving an Amiibo figure and the set is pretty huge – though there are still a wealth of Smash Bros characters left to adapt.

The third wave has been reported to be arriving in January in Japan, with no Western date announced yet, though Nintendo seem keen on releasing them quickly.

The first wave of Amiibo haven’t even been released yet – in fact they launch alongside Super Smash Bros for Wii U on November 21st. The first wave includes fan favourites Mario, Link and Pikachu, alongside more obscure characters like Fire Emblem’s Marth and the Wii Fit Trainer.

Amiibo have been confirmed to work with other games such as Mario Kart 8 and it will be interesting to see if and when we will start getting Amiibo not based upon Super Smash Bros designs.
