November 15, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Shailene Woodley (Divergent) is set to join the upcoming Edward Snowden biopic being directed by Oliver Stone. The actress is said to be in final negotiations for lead female role in the movie opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), who will play Edward Snowden.

The film is based on the book The Snowden Files by Luke Harding which depicts the Snowden’s move from Hawaii to Hong Kong where he handed over top-secret NSA documents to documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Pre-production has already begun in Germany and the film is set to start shooting in January. The Snowden Files has not official release date although it is slated to arrive some time in 2016.
