Broken Lizard tease Super Troopers 2

November 17, 2014 by admin

A disgusting fact to realise is that it’s been 13 years since Super Troopers was released in cinemas, where it wouldn’t find much success until its home video release. Since it rose to popularity in cult form, rumours of a sequel had always been on the cards. But, nothing ever came to fruition.

However, with comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To topping the US box office this weekend, it has sparked some hope from Broken Lizard, the comedy trope behind Super Troopers, for a sequel to come to fruition. As posted on Twitter:

Congrats, Farrellys on big weekend for Dumb&DumberTo. Hopefully bodes well for moving #SuperTroopers2 along.

Broken Lizard is made up of comedy actors Erik Stolhanske, Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan and Paul Soter who all write and star in the movies with Chandrasekhar directing. The team also were behind other cult favourites Club Dread and Beerfest however they have not released a film together since 2009’s The Slammin Salmon.

Super Troopers was released in 2001 and saw the team play a gang of Highway Patrol officers who play pranks on those they pull over but are forced to out-perform the local cops for fear of losing their jobs.
