Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David S. Goyer give update on Sandman movie

December 2, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Originally published December 2, 2014. Updated April 13, 2018.

While the Joseph Gordon-Levitt / David S. Goyer-produced adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series Sandman was absent from Warner Bros.’ big DC Comics announcement, the project is still very much a priority for the studio, and both Gordon-Levitt and Goyer have given updates on its status today.

During a Reddit AMA, JGL stated that: “Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We’ve been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.”

Meanwhile, Goyer told Deadline that: “I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team. We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”

Are you looking forward to JGL and Goyer’s take on Sandman? Let us know your thoughts…
