Mark Hamill doesn’t “care anymore” about returning to Star Wars now Carrie Fisher has passed away

April 11, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Now that Carrie Fisher has passed away, Mark Hamill doesn’t care as much as he did about returning to the Star Wars franchise.

Carrie Fisher’s death was a sad moment for many and for millions of fans for her role as Leia in the Star Wars franchise. One person that was particularly impacted by her death was her Star Wars: The Last Jedi co-star Mark Hamill.

Reuniting with Fisher and Harrison Ford for the new Star Wars movies was a huge factor in encouraging Hamill to return to the franchise but the actor says now that they can’t appear on screen together anymore, he isn’t all that bothered about returning.

“It really has tarnished my ability to enjoy it to its fullest,” Hamill told ABC News regarding Fisher’s passing. “You were asking earlier, ‘Are you gonna come back?’ I don’t care anymore, on that level. Because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone. You just can’t get the band back together the way you wanted it to be, and it shouldn’t be that way. It is what it is. Rather than being sorry that we can’t have more of her, I’m just grateful that we had the time with her that we did.”

It surely isn’t the same without his long time co-stars and you can understand that for Hamill some of the enthusiasm just isn’t there anymore. We will have to wait and see if Hamill will return for perhaps one last time in Episode IX.
