Stephen Hawking congratulates Eddie Redmayne after his Oscar win

February 23, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After his triumph at last night’s Academy Awards, Eddie Redmayne continued to be congratulated on his win from all corners of the globe, including one from Stephen Hawking himself after winning the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in The Theory of Everything.

Post by Stephen Hawking.

Redmayne was congratulated by Professor Hawking on his Facebook page to his two million strong fanbase after winning for portraying the physicist and his battles with motor neurone disease, beating out Michael Keaton (Birdman), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Steve Carell (Foxcatcher) and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) to the award.

The actor dedicated his award to those living with motor neuron disease after spending time with the Hawking family while preparing for his role.

“I will certainly go to Cambridge at some point to see Stephen, Jane, Jonathan and the Hawking children….. They have been so kind to [the cast and crew] the whole way through this process” said Redmayne after his victory.

The Theory of Everything is out now in cinemas nationwide, and is available to pre-order over at [easyazon_link asin=”B00LY1YP3M” locale=”UK” new_window=”yes” nofollow=”default” tag=”flicker-21″]Amazon[/easyazon_link] ahead of its May 11th release.
