Hugh Jackman teases “one last time” as Wolverine

March 28, 2015 by Gary Collinson

In the run up to the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past there were rumblings from Hugh Jackman that he could be looking to hang up the claws on his signature role as Wolverine, only for him to make an apparent U-turn last month when he said that he wants to keep playing him “until he dies”. Well, if the latest Instagram post from the actor is any indication, it seems he may have had another change of heart…

At present, Jackman is only officially confirmed as returning to the role of Logan for 2017’s sequel to The Wolverine, although he is expected to feature in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set to go into production next month, and he’s recently said he’s open to the idea of cameoing in Deadpool, which is filming now.

So, it’s a little unclear which film he could be referring to with his post, and if it is Apocalypse or Deadpool and it does turn out to be Jackman’s last outing, then it remains to be seen how this would impact Fox’s plans for the third Wolverine film. Either way, it’s sure to be a blow to Fox, especially with Jennifer Lawrence revealing this week that she’s finished with the X-Men franchise after X-Men: Apocalypse.

Will you be disappointed if Jackman has decided to call it a day, and who would you like to see succeeding him in the role of Wolverine?
