Kevin James set for television return in new deal with Sony

April 3, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Kevin James (Grown Ups) is set to return to television after his Hey Eddie Productions company signed a two-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television.

The new deal will see the company not only produce new projects for Sony, but also see James headline a new sitcom for them. In addition, the deal also continues James’ association with Columbia Pictures, who has a similar first-look deal with the comedian through to 2017.

Television is where James got his first big break in hit series King of Queens, which ran from 1998-2007, and led to his first big-screen breakout role opposite Will Smith in 2005 smash-hit comedy Hitch. James became a producer on King of Queens and formed his company in 2007 with partner and manager Jeff Sussman.

James is soon to return to the big-screen later this month with comedy sequel Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which opens on April 17th in the UK and US, and will also be seen in this summer’s action-comedy Pixels, opposite long-time collaborator Adam Sandler.
