Uggie is top dog at the first ever Golden Collar Awards

February 15, 2012 by admin

The Academy Awards may be off-limits to canine superstar Uggie – with a spokesperson for The Weinstein Company revealing earlier today that “Uggie has not been asked to participate or appear at the Oscars” – but that didn’t stop the pooch from stealing the show at the inaugural Golden Collar Awards at a ceremony in Los Angeles, California on Monday evening.

Devised by DogNewsDaily in order to ‘recognise canine excellence in Hollywood films’, the Golden Collar Awards saw Uggie receive two nominations for Best Dog in a Theatrical Film for his work in The Artist and Water for Elephants, taking home the gong for the former and adding to a growing list of accolades for the acclaimed silent feature that includes the prestigious Palm Dog at the Cannes Film Festival, not to mention a few others for its human cast and crew.
