Alec Baldwin drops out of DC’s Joker movie

August 29, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Just yesterday it was revealed that Alec Baldwin had signed on to portray Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas Wayne in Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Joker movie, but now the actor has revealed that he’s dropped out of the film.

“I’m no longer doing that movie,” said Baldwin in an interview with USA Today, citing scheduling issues as the reason for his exit. “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”

The original casting report claimed that Joker’s version of Thomas Wayne would be depicted as “a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump” – something which Baldwin then took to Twitter to deny prior to confirming his exit:

Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque.
That is not happening.
Not.
Happening.

Baldwin is said to have been offered the role after The Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen passed on the part.
