Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci in talks for The Devil Wears Prada sequel

July 11, 2024 by Ricky Church

It is looking like it will be a full reunion as Entertainment Weekly has revealed Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci are also in talks to reprise their roles from The Devil Wears Prada for its upcoming sequel. They will join Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt in the film which will be directed by David Frankel, the director of the original.

Hathaway, Streep, Blunt and Tucci led The Devil Wears Prada in 2006. The film followed Hathaway’s Andy as she joined a prestigious fashion magazine as the personal assistant for its editor, Miranda Priestly (Streep). As Andy desperately tries proving herself to Miranda, she goes head-to-head with Miranda’s senior assistant Emily (Blunt) for recognition and befriends the magazine’s art director Nigel (Tucci), who teaches her more about the fashion industry. Most of all, she also has to contend with Miranda’s cold business-first attitude along with her constant beratement and impatience.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will see Miranda’s (Meryl Streep) career going into decline, which forces her to go face to face with Emily (Emily Blunt), who is now a major exec at a luxury group, whose advertising dollars Miranda desperately needs.

Also returning for the sequel is the original’s screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who is currently working on the new story, and its producer Wendy Finerman.

The Devil Wears Prada went on to gross over $326 million at the worldwide box office upon its release in 2006, earning Meryl Streep a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy, as well as an Academy Award nomination.
