Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania tracking bumper $120 million domestic opening, new promos released

February 1, 2023 by Gary Collinson

With the first two films having been described by director Peyton Reed as a “palate cleanser” to bigger Avengers-level events, Marvel Studios is raising the stakes for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with the threequel not only launching Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also serving as an integral chapter of the Multiverse Saga on our way through to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Although Scott Lang won’t be joined by any of Earth’s other Mightiest Heroes for the first round with Jonathan Majors’ Kang, it seems the film is on course to enjoy a nice bump at the box office as a result, with Quantumania said to be tracking a four-day $120 million domestic opening.

With around $100 – $105 million of that expected figure expected from the Friday-to-Sunday period, that would put it well ahead of both the original Ant-Man ($57.2 million) and Ant-Man and the Wasp ($75.5 million), as well as giving Quantumania the third-biggest Presidents Day opening ever behind Black Panther ($242.1 million) and Deadpool ($152.1 million).

While we await this first step on the road to the Kang Dynasty, you can check out another couple of promos for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania finds Peyton Reed returning to the director’s chair for the third time and stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne), Randall Park (Jimmy Woo), Corey Stoll (Darren Cross/Yellowjacket), Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang), Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror), Bill Murray (Krylar), and William Jackson Harper.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set for release on February 17th, 2023.
