Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom synopsis teases “an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally”

December 26, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Barring any pandemic-related delays, Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry will be back on the big screen this time next year as Warner Bros. releases DC Films’ aquatic superhero sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and the studio has just dropped an official synopsis for the James Wan-directed film.

“When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.”

Based on what we know about the cast for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, this “uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally” presumably refers to Arthur’s half-brother Orm, a.k.a. Ocean Master, whom we’ve already seen sporting a very different – and very shredded – look from when we last saw him being taken into custody at the end of the first movie.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom reunites Jason Momoa with director James Wan and co-stars Amber Heard (Mera), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Patrick Wilson (Orm), Temuera Morrison (Tom Curry), Randall Park (Stephen Shin) and Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus). New additions to the cast include Indya Moore (Queen & Slim) as Karshon, Vincent Regan (300) as King Atlan, Jani Zhao (South) as Stingray, and Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set for release on December 16th 2022.
