Batwoman and Gotham City to feature in The CW’s next DC crossover

May 17, 2018 by Gary Collinson

The CW’s superheroes from Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl will find themselves fighting alongside a new ally in this year’s big DC crossover, and no – it won’t be Black Lightning, but rather the newly-introduced character of Batwoman!

“We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character,” said Arrow star Stephen Amell at The CW’s upfront presentation. “For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

“We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse,” added CW boss Mark Pedowitz. “This will be another full-throttled, action-packed event.”

The original Batwoman, Kathy Kane, was introduced to the DC Comics universe in Detective Comics in 1956, while a modern version of the character – Kate Kane – made her debut in 2006. The Arrowverse appearance will be the first time we’ve ever seen the character in live-action.

Arrow has previously name-dropped Bruce Wayne, and with Fox announcing that Gotham will come to an end with its upcoming fifth season, could this be another step towards Batman finally making an appearance in the Arrowverse in the next year or two? Supergirl managed to get Superman, so it’s perhaps not beyond the realm of possibility…
