Fans of Doctor Who who can’t wait to find out what The Doctor’s first adventure might be about will be able to find some spoilers ahead of its return to BBC One on August 23rd. While we won’t post it here, the script for episode 1 of Doctor Who season 8 has been leaked online.
According to reports, the leak came from the BBC sending the script to their Latin-American based offices in Miami.
The first episode of the eighth season of Doctor Who is to be aired around the world at the same time according to the Radio Times so the BBC needed to send the script round to all of their markets for translations.
So serious is the leak that the BBC have released an official statement, pleading with fans not to seek out the leaked material.
“BBC Worldwide is currently investigating a security issue around Doctor Who series eight where unfinished material has inadvertently been made public. We deeply regret this and apologize to all the show’s fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series. We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen when it launches. We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty.”
Doctor Who Season 8 sees Peter Capaldi (World War Z) take over the mantle of The Doctor alongside the returning Jenna Coleman.
