The Third Doctor to meet The Imposters in new Doctor Who adventure in February

October 22, 2025 by Andrew Newton

After the recent release of Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures – Operation: Vengeance, Big Finish has announced the next instalment coming in February 2026. Titled The Imposters, this brand-new full-cast audio drama brings more adventures for the dandiest of Doctors and his companions.

In The Imposters, written by Alan Barnes, the Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, and the Brigadier are hot on the trail of some stolen advanced technology. Sarah Jane is convinced that her informant is leading them to a top-secret space tracking station, but as the mystery becomes more complicated, the Doctor is reunited with his old UNIT colleague, Doctor Liz Shaw. What follows is a deadly puzzle involving a precocious schoolgirl, a Saturday night all-in wrestling star and a high-ranking military officer. If that wasn’t enough of a challenge for the Doctor, there’s a plot to control the Earth’s weather, a link to the constellation of Centaurus, and a lethal encounter with the Venusian karate Downward K-klak.

Writer Alan Barnes states: “It was an absolute joy to put the Third Doctor, the Brigadier and Sarah together with Liz Shaw, who’s not been idle since she left UNIT… as you’ll hear. The Imposters had a very unlikely starting point: I wondered what would happen if the Doctor met another of the superstars of 1970s Saturday afternoon TV. Someone like Big Daddy, or Giant Haystacks, or Rollerball Rocco. Yes, we’re going all-in with the wrestling!”

The Imposters stars Tim Treloar as the Third Doctor, Sadie Miller as Sarah Jane Smith, Jon Culshaw as the Brigadier, and Daisy Ashford as Liz Shaw.

Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: The Imposters is available to pre-order now from the Big Finish website for £19.99 for the digital download, or £24.99 for the download and limited collector’s edition CD box set.
