Deadline is reporting that actor Gwilym Lee, who plays Queen guitarist Brian May in the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, has been cast in Hulu’s TV pilot The Great.
The Great explores the rise to power of Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning) and her explosive relationship with her husband Peter (Nicholas Hoult). Lee is set to portray Grigor, the best friend and confidant of Russian emperor Peter.
The pilot has been written by Tony McNamara (The Favourite) and has Matt Shakman (Game of Thrones) directing. Also featuring in the cast are Phoebe Fox, Sacha Dhawan and Charity Wakefield.
Lee will next be seen in the rom-com Top End Wedding, and has recently wrapped production on ITV’s three-part psychological drama The Man.
