Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek was apparently wanted for Bond 25 villain

December 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After its director shake-up earlier this year, the cast of Bond 25 is coming together with the recent news that Lea Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Ralph Fiennes (M) and Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) are set to return alongside Daniel Craig’s 007.

As yet, there’s been no official word on casting for the film’s villain(s), although Tomasz Kot (Cold War) was said to have been wanted for Danny Boyle’s version – a sticking point between Boyle and the producers which contributed to his departure. Said Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) also revealed that he’d been cast as a bad guy in Boyle’s film, while unconfirmed tabloid rumours claimed that Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech) and Angelina Jolie (Maleficent) were both in contention.

Well, it seems we can add another name to the “might have been” list, as Variety is reporting that Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek was originally being lined up to play the main bad guy, but with production being pushed back into early 2019 he was prevented from taking on the role due to his commitments to the final season of Mr. Robot.
