Brand new Doctor Who: The Sixth Doctor Adventure available now from Big Finish

April 25, 2026 by Andrew Newton

The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) has returned in a brand-new Doctor Who audio box set from Big Finish, as he continues his adventures with Peri (Nicola Bryant). In this new audio adventure, the pair are joined by Vislor Turlough (Mark Strickson), the old companion who betrayed the Fifth Doctor to the Black Guardian.

The Sixth Doctor is not as forgiving as his predecessor, but somehow Turlough has ended up back aboard the TARDIS. The Doctor may not trust this old companion, but they will have to learn to work together on three new adventures into Earth’s past.

These three new adventures are:

The Reckoning by Nev Fountain takes the trio back to seventeenth-century London after the TARDIS gets stuck in the path of a neutron star. Here they meet an old friend, Christopher Marlowe, who is trying to get out of a pact he’s made for his soul. But has Turlough made another deal with the Devil? This adventure stars Nigel Fairs as Christopher Marlowe and Eve Winters as Tess.

In A Crucible of Queens by L M Myles, the Doctor and Turlough find themselves on opposite sides in the aftermath of the Battle of Agincourt. Turlough has allied himself with Charles, the Dauphin of France, while the Doctor is with King Charles VII. In the meantime, two powerful women are also – Yolande, Duchess of Anjou, and the Dauphin’s estranged mother, Isabeau of Bavaria. Can the TARDIS crew keep both queens happy without losing their heads? Also starring Julie Dray as Yolande of Aragon, Debbie Chazen as Isabeau of Bavaria, Laurent Lafuma as Duke of Burgundy/Charles VI, Narayan David Hecter as Dauphin of France, Randy Guine as Sir Raynald de Charny/Phillipe, and Charlie Tighe as Man-at-Arms.

Nicola Bryant, with Nigel Fairs and Eve Winters in the background.

The Curse of the Duergar by Julian Richards takes the TARDIS crew back to the time of the Vikings. As the Shieldmaiden Hervor seeks to claim the Sword Tyrfing, made by Duergar, the Dwarf kings of the below. The Doctor finds out the hard way that the sword is cursed, and once drawn, it must taste blood. Even the Doctor is not immune to its power, and soon Peri and Turlough are horrified as the Doctor is forced to take a life. Guest starring Lara Lemon as Hervor, Daniel Hawksford as Angantyr’s Ghost, Richard Clifford as the Shepherd, and George Naylor as Dvalinn.
