Brett Goldstein hilariously confirms to Ted Lasso fans that he is not a CGI creation

September 2, 2021 by EJ Moreno

In a rare moment of internet fandom being filled with pure joy, the Ted Lasso fans have finally got an answer they’ve been craving.

Recently, an internet rumor started that Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein was a CGI creation. A Reddit thread started the conspiracy, and fans added that Goldstein was too perfect to be a real person. One Reddit user says Goldstein’s Roy felt like a character from the Halo game series, while another notes his slow eye movements and body language are something not real.

Goldstein plays Roy Kent, a former player who has gone on a bit of a journey throughout the show’s two seasons. Kent’s character has even started something called the “Roy Kent Effect,” inspiring the team to go on a winning streak.

In a recent Instagram post, using an animated filter (of course), Goldstein addressed this, stating that he’s “a completely real, normal human man who just happens to live in a VFX house” who does “normal human basic things like rendering and buffering and transferring data.”

Golden Globe winner Jason Sudeikis is Ted Lasso, an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team—despite having no experience. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination…and biscuits.

Season two of Ted Lasso is currently streaming on Apple TV+
