Bruce Campbell says stay tuned for more Evil Dead

December 6, 2023 by EJ Moreno

If you’re a Deadite lover like me, the news of more Evil Dead is excellent.

Following the hit Evil Dead Rise from this year, it seems like it’s a good time to be a fan of the franchise, and the star of the original trilogy agrees as Bruce Campbell recently sat down with Collider and spilled the details about the future of Evil Dead and how happy he is with the franchise he helped start.

Campbell tells the outlet, “We’re going to do them probably more like every two to three years now rather than every ten years. But, hey, we’ve seen with Star Wars – you don’t want to wear people out. Keep them guessing! We never wore out our welcome with Evil Dead because we never choked them.”

Campbell looks at the latest film, Evil Dead Rise, and feels the franchise is heading in a good direction.

He notes, “We were very happy with what [director] Lee Cronin did. He did a great job, to the point where he’s going to be hard to employ again because everybody wants to use him now. So we’ll see if we get him back or not! It’s made the most money of any Evil Dead movie so far at $140 million. So, yeah, you bet your bottom dollar we’re going to do a few more.”

The potential sixth film is rumored to see the final girls from 2013’s Evil Dead and Evil Dead Rise coming together to face off against the forces of evil. All of that is rumors for now, but the Evil Dead franchise loves connecting its very strange canon.

In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

Evil Dead Rise is directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), with Sam Raimi, Bruce Cambell, and Rob Tapert producing. Featuring in the cast are Lily Sullivan (I Met a Girl), Alyssa Sutherland (The Mist), Morgan Davies (The End), Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), and Nell Fisher (Northspur).
