Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart circling The Intouchables remake

March 31, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline is reporting that The Weinstein Company is prepping a remake of the massively successful French film The Intouchables and may have found its leading men.

Bryan Cranston (Trumbo) and comedian Kevin Hart (Ride Along 2) are said to be in advanced talks over starring in the new film, but a deal for either actor is yet to be been finalised.

The Weinstein Company have long wanted to make an American version of the film, and after years of trying they may finally be about to get their wish, especially after Paul Feig (Ghostbusters) was hired to write the script. Previously, names such as Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’ Baby) and director Tom Shadyac (Bruce Almighty) have been linked. Feig himself was set to make the film after Bridesmaids, but instead opted to write the script only.

Released in 2011, The Intouchables (known as Untouchable in the UK) was a massive success internationally, grossing $416 million. It tells the story of “an aristocrat who, after being paralyzed in a hang-gliding accident, hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker.” Omay Sy (Jurassic World) and Francois Cluzet (Tell No One) starred.
