Cameron Diaz was one of the most recognisable big-screen stars of the last two decades before she decided to retire in 2018, but now comes the news that the Golden-Globe nominated actor is to make a return in the appropriately titled Netflix action-comedy Back in Action.
Deadline reports that she will star alongside Jamie Foxx, who also broke the news in a much more elaborate fashion via his Twitter account (see below), roping in NFL legend Tom Brady to give her tips on how to un-retire.
Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!! 🦊🐐 pic.twitter.com/vyaGrUmbWb

The plot for Back in Action is being kept under wraps, but it will be directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses fame, from a script he co-wrote with Brendan O’Brien (Bad Neighbours).
Cameron Diaz’s last role was also alongside Jamie Foxx in 2014’s musical stinker Annie, but had forged an impressive career since the moment she made Jim Carrey’s CGI jaw drop in 1994’s The Mask, starring in films such as Being John Malkovich, Any Given Sunday, The Holiday, Gangs of New York, Vanilla Sky, Shrek, Charlie’s Angels and There’s Something About Mary.
