Dan Harmon on the possibility of Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown returning for the Community movie

October 11, 2022 by EJ Moreno

With the promise of six seasons and a movie being delivered, Community fans are hoping to see the entire cast return for the film, and while many were announced when we got the official news, there are still some key figures Dan Harmon wants to see.

Creator Harmon spoke to Variety at New York Comic Con today about the possibility of comebacks from Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown, both of whom were absent from the cast list of the official movie announcement.

“I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just the deal isn’t official or wasn’t official. It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald,” Harmon said. “So I believe he is coming back. I think if there’s names missing from a list, it’s because the names that are on the list, their deals are agreed upon enough that it’s OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that’s not on a list, it’s just not the case yet. So there is nothing official about anybody being out.”

While the returns may only be cameos, it will still be a delight to see Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown join the Community universe once again. Brown is known for posting enthusiastically about the project but hasn’t spoken about the upcoming film on any of her social media accounts.

Harmon also opened up about the Community’s movie process of finding a home. The filmmaker claims many streamers were interested in picking up the film, but says he went with Peacock for more reasons than just the NBC legacy.

“They’ve really expressed that in the ways of how they’re very, very interested in promoting the movie and letting us make it the way we want to, says Harmon. “They were able to express those things in a contract that means something… we want to make something great and let everybody know when it’s on and stuff like that.”

As well as giving the thumbs-up on the Community Movie, Peacock also announced that it had acquired the complete series of 110 episodes of the Emmy-winning comedy, which will be available as part of its streaming library.
