Lanterns will follow Pierre’s Stewart as he trains under Jordan, but the two get caught up in a mysterious murder case in a small American town that has gotten their attention. The premiere window was previously known to be in August, but now the official date is revealed to be August 16th when the Green Lanterns will take flight. The series was created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and DC comics writer Tom King.
Lanterns marks a big moment for Green Lantern as this is not only the first live-action Green Lantern project since the 2011 film, but the first time the fan-favourite John Stewart has been brought to screen. It will also not be the last audiences will see of Stewart as Pierre is set to reprise his role in James Gunn’s Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.
As for the Green Lantern audiences already know in the new DCU, Nathan Fillion will return as Guy Gardner at some point in the season where all three Earthbound members of the Green Lantern Corps will meet.
