Denzel Washington directs Michael B. Jordan in teaser trailer for A Journal for Jordan

August 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Denzel Washington steps behind the camera for the first time since 2016’s Academy Award winning Fences to direct Michael B. Jordan in what looks to be a leading contender for seasonal tear-jerker of 2021.

Based on Dana Canedy’s From Father to Son, Last Words to Live By, a true story about her partner, 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe King, who left a journal for his son Jordan, should he not return from war. Grab a box of tissues and check out the trailer below…

Directed by Denzel Washington and starring Michael B. Jordan with a screenplay by Virgil Williams, A JOURNAL FOR JORDAN is based on the true story of Sergeant Charles Monroe King (Michael B. Jordan), a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. Back at home, senior New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child. A sweeping account of a once-in-a-lifetime love, the film is a powerful reminder of the importance of family and the all-too-human cost of war.

A Journal for Jordan will be released in cinemas this Christmas.
