Djimon Hounsou returning as The Wizard in Shazam! Fury of the Gods

It looks like we can add another familiar face to the cast of Warner Bros.’ Shazam! Fury of the Gods, with a set photo from the DC sequel arriving online this week which reveals that Djimon Hounsou will be reprising his role as the Wizard – presumably in flashback scenes, seeing as a) he died in the original Shazam!, and b) he’s looking considerably less ancient than the last time we saw him. Shazam: Fury of the Gods is being directed by David F. Sandberg, and sees the return of Zachary Levi alongside fellow cast members Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody as Freddy Freeman, Faith Herman and Meagan Good as Darla Dudley, Grace Fulton and Michelle Borth as Mary Bromfield, Ian Chen and Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand and D.J. Cotrona as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, and Djimon Hounsou as The Wizard. New additions to the cast include Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Rachel Zegler as an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently set for release on June 2nd 2023.
