Double Dragon Revive website introduces the game’s story

August 21, 2024 by Andrew Newton

The Double Dragon games have been a firm favourite of gamers since it first arrived in the arcades in 1987 (though we won’t mention Double Dragon 3 and its microtransactions) and that popularity continues today as the upcoming release of Double Dragon Revive in 2025 will testify.  The backstory to why the brothers have to fight has always been interesting and today Arc System Works has announced the launch of the official website which introduces Double Dragon Revive’s story.

I won’t go into telling all the back story for Double Dragon Revive here, I’ll let you savour the pleasure of reading the full story on the official site. However to summarise, it takes place 15 years after the nuclear war devastated the land.  Over that time, gangs and shadowy organisations have taken over the cities and where there were once laws there is now corruption and poverty.  Billy and Jimmy Lee, masters of the Sosetsuken, live in one of these poverty stricken cities with their childhood friend Marian and when their dojo is threatened, it’s time to take action.

The official website also includes quotes from the creators of the game’s brilliant soundtrack, providing samples of music produced by talented individuals such as Raito, Kohta Takahashi and James Landino.

RAITO “Double Dragon came out when I was in elementary school, and it is a profoundly memorable game for me as I was once able to clear it with just one coin. It really is an honor to be involved in the making of this new title’s musical score. Please look forward to hearing it!”

Visit the official Double Dragon Revive website here.

Double Dragon Revive will launch in 2025 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4 and 5 and Steam. The game will also be available to purchase in physical form for the Playstation 4 and 5.
