Dungeons & Dragons comes to Dead by Daylight

May 16, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Fifty years ago, Dungeons & Dragons was born and created lands and legends to last the ages. Adventurers around the world answered the call to fight evil, gain treasures and become more powerful.  To celebrate this epic milestone, Dungeons & Dragons will be arriving in the world of Dead by Daylight on the 3rd June, bringing with it a new survivor, a new Killer and much more.

The story of Dungeons & Dragons arrival in Dead by Daylight begins with the crumbling Forgotten Ruins and the ambitions of the power-hungry Lich, Vecna, while the Bard Aestri Yazar finds herself in this horrifying realm. Yazar is determined to survive and return to the warm fireside of a friendly tavern where she can tell her tale.

The Lich Vecna is the new Killer and carries with him the Book of Vile Darkness which allows him to cast 4 spells. These are:

  • Fly – Grants Vecna flying speed for a short period of time and lets him pass over obstacles in his path.
  • Flight of the Damned – This conjures flying spectral entities that can move through obstacles and harm those they hit.
  • Mage Hand – Creates a ghostly hand that can complete tasks such as holding and blocking the use of Pallets.
  • Dispelling Sphere – Summon a moving area-of-effect sphere that reveals Survivors and nullifies their magic items.

The Dungeons & Dragons chapter allows players to choose between the Survivors Aestri Yazar or Baermar Uraz. Whoever they choose will have 3 unique Perks, these include:

  • Mirrored Illusion – creates a static copy of the Survivor in front of a Totem, Chest, Generator or Exit Gate for a short time.
  • Bardic Inspiration – gives fellow Survivors a Skill Check buff depending on the result of a d20.
  • Still Sight – Stand still to see the auras of all nearby Generators, Totems and Chests.

This new addition to Dead by Daylight brings the new map Forgotten Ruins.  This location is Vecna’s domain and consists of a ruined tower, under which lies an underground lair of hideous experiments and secrets.

There are 7 chests scattered across this new map and may contain a new magic item depending on the roll of a d20.  The roll of a 2 or 3 will earn a regular Dead by Daylight item, a roll of 4-19 unlocks a magical item such as boots or gauntlets (auto equipped) that can negate one of Vecna’s spells, and a lucky roll of 20 grants a powerful magic item that can be used like a Perk. Finally, a roll of 1 spells catastrophe for the unlucky adventurer.

Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons arrives on supported platforms on 3rd June.
