Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul set for sci-fi Ash from director Flying Lotus

April 2, 2023 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Eiza Gonzalez (Ambulance) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) have signed on to lead the cast of Ash, a sci-fi thriller from rapper, producer and filmmaker Flying Lotus.

The project was originally announced last year with Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Trial of the Chicago 7), but has since undergone a retooling with Gonzalez and Paul now on board.

The film will see Gonzalez starring as a woman on a distant planet who finds the crew of her space station viciously killed and must decide whether she can trust the man (Paul) sent to rescue her.

“We are building something fresh and unique with Ash and having Eiza and Aaron in this world just makes it flames. They are absolute magic makers, brave and equally inspiring. All that to say… We ‘bout to kill this shit,” said Flying Lotus.

Ash marks the second feature for Flying Lotus after 2017’s Kuso, and is being produced by Neill Blomkamp (District 9). Filming is set to get underway in New Zealand in May.
