Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror The Black Phone.

An adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story of the same name, the film follows Finney (Mason Thames), a 13-year-old boy who is abducted by a sadistic serial killer (Ethan Hawke) and discovers he can hear voices of the murderer;s previous victims on a disconnected phone in the soundproof basement he finds himself trapped in.

Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

Featuring alongside Ethan Hawke and Mason Thames in the cast of The Black Phone are James Ransone (It Chapter Two), Madeleine McGraw (Toy Story 4) and Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan).

The Black Phone arrives in cinemas on June 24th.
