August 11, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Daedalic Entertainment and developer DALOAR have recently unveiled The Occultist, their latest first-person horror title.  Scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC in 2025, The Occultist follows paranormal investigator Alan Rebels on an immersive and spine-chilling case.  Watch the new trailer below….

The Occultist puts players in the shoes of Alan Rebels as he sets out on a journey to the mysterious island of Godstone intent on solving the truth behind his father’s disappearance.  Godstone was once home to a notorious and evil cult renowned for their hideous experiments and disturbing rituals and players will need to navigate the eerie buildings and dark streets that remain.

Players will be able to use paranormal abilities to manipulate the environment and communicate with the souls that roam Godstone’s abandoned streets and buildings and use this information to progress through the story.

Key features of The Occultist include:

  • The Mystic Pendulum allows Alan to use five unique mechanics to communicate with lost souls and manipulate the environment.
  • An immersive experience in Alan’s foreboding world with tense explorations through atmospheric environments.
  • Utilise stealth mechanics to avoid combat with supernatural forces.
  • Meet dangerous adversaries that will make the investigation a true nightmare.
  • A variety of puzzles to solve that require an insight into the occult.
  • An original soundtrack by composer Pepe Herrero.

This gripping and terrifying first-person horror will be heading to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.
