Former Hearthstone developers working on new Marvel game

January 7, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Marvel Entertainment has announced that Second Dinner, an independent game developer founded by Hearthstone director Ben Brode, executive producer Hamilton Chu, and several ex-Blizzard employees, is currently working on a new Marvel video game title.

“I’ve worked with Hamilton [Chu, former Hearthstone Executive Producer and Second Dinner CEO] and Ben [Brode] for years and they are exactly who we want making Marvel games,” said Jay Ong, Head of Marvel Games at Marvel Entertainment. “They and the team they’ve assembled at Second Dinner have made some of the greatest games in history. And now, working with the Marvel Games team and playing in the Marvel Universe… It’s going to be Amazing! Or maybe Spectacular!”

As yet, there’s no specific details on the game, although given Ong’s comments that it will be “amazing” or “spectacular”, it’s possible that he’s hinting towards some kind of Spider-Man title (the webslinger is of course coming off a huge hit in Insomniac Games’ PS4-exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man).

Marvel Games recently announced the upcoming release of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, which is set to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive, while the mysterious The Avengers Project also remains in development at Square Enix, having first been announced back in January 2017.
