FX releases new trailer for Mrs. America starring Cate Blanchett

March 24, 2020 by Amie Cranswick

FX has released a new trailer for its upcoming drama series Mrs. America which stars Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative activist that led a fight against the Equal Rights Amendment movement in the 1970s; watch it here…

Mrs. America tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly, played by Blanchett. Through the eyes of the women of that era – both Schlafly and Second Wave feminists Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus – the series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the 70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted our political landscape.

Joining Blanchett in the cast are Elizabeth Banks (Brightburn),  Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black), Rose Byrne (Instant Family), Kayli Carter (Godless), Ari Graynor (The Front Runner), Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), James Marsden (Westworld), Margo Martindale (Sneaky Pete), Sarah Paulson (Glass), John Slattery (Mad Men), Jeanne Tripplehorn (We Only Know So Much) and Tracey Ullman (Tracey Ullman’s Show).

Mrs. America premieres on April 15th.
