Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon fills out cast with seven new additions

As filming continues on House of the Dragon, HBO has announced that added seven to the cast of its first Game of Thrones spinoff with Graham McTavish (who’d previously let slip his involvement), Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, and Gavin Spokes all joining the show.

The new additions join the previously announced Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Munuzo and Rhys Ifans in the series, which has been created by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony) and  takes place some 300 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones.

Per Variety, here’s the official character descriptions for the new cast members:

  • Jefferson Hall as Lord Jason Lannister – The Lord of Casterly Rock and twin to Ser Tyland Lannister; and Tyland Lannister- A crafty and calculating politician, twin to Lord Jason Lannister.
  • David Horovitch as Grand Maester Mellos – A voice of reason and trusted advisor to King Viserys.
  • Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling – Ser Harrold has served in the Kingsguard since the days of King Jaehaerys; he is a paragon of chivalry and honor.
  • Matthew Needham as Larys Strong – Younger son of Master of Laws Lyonel Strong, brought to court by his father.
  • Bill Paterson as Lord Lyman Beesbury – Lord of Honeyholt and Master of Coin on King Viserys’s small council.
  • Gavin Spokes as Lord Lyonel Strong – Master of Laws to King Viserys and Lord of Harrenhal.
