Gems of War update 3.4 now live

May 1, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Update 3.4 is now live for Gems of War on consoles and PC and with it arrives new features and changes, most notable of these is the highly anticipated Pets and the seemingly overpowered Doomskulls.  The new trailer below provides a brief introduction to pets and how they can be used in the game.

Starting off with Doomskulls, these new explosive skulls now appear in puzzle games and can be linked with regular skulls to provide and explosive new bonus.  They are supposed to appear at just 10% of the rate of regular skulls but after an hours playing I noticed they appeared more regularly so maybe these need to be tweaked.  Doomskulls, once activated, will provide +5 extra damage plus give a boost to mana on some of your troops.

Pets are a brilliant new feature introduced in this latest update, not only do they provide a cosmetic purpose but can also prove beneficial for buffs and loot.  Buff pets will increase team bonuses from Kingdom, Color or Troop type whilst Loot pets will give bonuses towards XP, Gold or Souls earned.  As with troop types, duplicate cards of pets (obtained from Pet Rescue minigames) will need to be gained to level them up with bonuses becoming more effective the higher the pet’s level.  Pets can be equipped from the troops menu.

The new Pet Rescue minigame can be activated for a limited time for all guildmates by defeating the Pet Gnomes that occasionally appear in Ranked PVP, Casual PVP or Arena.  Defeating a Pet Gnome during an event will only reward with pet food but winning a battle can also reward with a new pet.  There will also be a scheduled pet rescue event held once a week lasting 24 hours so all players can attempt to win a pet.

Update 3.4 also introduces a new monthly login reward.  Weekly rewards will now reset after each week however, the monthly rewards will continue for 28 days and the best thing is there are no resets if you happen to miss a day.
