Hanna TV series casts Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman, and Esme Creed-Miles

February 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Amazon Studios has cast its three leads for Hanna, a TV adaptation of the Joe Wright-directed 2011 action film which starred Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett.

Penned by David Farr, the writer of the original movie, Hanna is described as “a high-concept thriller and coming-of-age drama which follows the journey of an extraordinary young girl as she evades the relentless pursuit of an off-book CIA agent and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is.”

Esme Creed-Miles (Dark River) is set to portray the titular Hanna, with The Killing duo of Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos set to portray Hanna’s father Erik and CIA agent Marissa respectively.

“I’m thrilled that Hanna has managed to attract a visionary director and actors of the calibre of Mireille and Joel to play our adult leads,” said Farr. “And in Esme Creed-Miles I believe we have discovered a star of the future – she is going to be a very special Hanna. Hanna aims to be both a raw-knuckle ride and a deeply touching family drama. It has the visceral excitement of a genuine conspiracy thriller but also the simple humanity of a rites of passage drama. Hanna is in a very unusual family. She’s a very special teenager. But all teenagers think they’re abnormal. She’s just a little more abnormal than most.”

Hanna is being produced by NBC Universal International Studios and Working Title Television, with Sarah Adina Smith (Legion, Buster’s Mal Heart) set to direct.
