After sharing a tantalising teaser earlier this week, MGM has now debuted the first trailer for George Miller’s eagerly-awaited fantasy romance Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Miller’s first offering since 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, the sees Tilda Swinton as a lonely scholar who discovers a Djinn (Idris Elba) while on a trip to Istanbul, who offers her wishes in exchange for his freedom.

Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.
Three Thousand Years of Longing features a cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Idris Elba, Aamito Lagum, Burcu Goledar, Matteo Bocelli, Kaan Guldur, Alyla Browne, and Angie Tricker.
Three Thousand Years of Longing is set to premiere at Cannes ahead of a theatrical release on August 31st.
