Jason Momoa feels confident there will be more Aquaman in DC Studios’ future

March 31, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Job security at DC Studios could be better, especially with the reboot nearing in the next few years. But before the slate is wiped partially clean with future DC movies, we will see at least one more Aquaman film, the upcoming sequel coming this winter.

As Jason Momoa nears the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Momoa is feeling confident. As he promoted his appearance in Fast X, the actor spoke to Total Film magazine about the character’s future.

Momoa tells the outlet, “Peter [Safran] ‘s my producer [on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom] and is a dear friend. I absolutely think Aquaman will be involved in the DCU. It’s on, bro – there’s no one bigger than Aquaman! But, also, I hope people are excited to see the new one. It’s fun. I really enjoy doing comedy. There’s some really funny stuff with Patrick Wilson. I really adore him. We had a great time working together. It’s like we’re brothers. There’s a lot of cool stuff happening in this one.”

Momoa has been no stranger to discussions with the new co-chairs of DC Studios. He’s touted having great meetings with Gunn about DC and has been rumored to be playing a version of Lobo in later DC projects.

We shall see what the future holds, but Jason Momoa will have at least one more outing as Aquaman this December when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits cinemas. You can see the actor next in Fast X, where he’ll star as Dante.

“When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.”

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom reunites Jason Momoa with director James Wan and co-stars Amber Heard (Mera), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Patrick Wilson (Orm), Temuera Morrison (Tom Curry), Randall Park (Stephen Shin) and Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus), while Ben Affleck returns as Bruce Wayne. New additions to the cast include Indya Moore (Queen & Slim) as Karshon, Vincent Regan (300) as King Atlan, Jani Zhao (South) as Stingray, and Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set for release on Christmas Day 2023.
