Jim Caviezel joins Schwarzenegger and Stallone in The Tomb

February 21, 2012 by admin

300 producer Mark Canton’s testosterone-fest The Tomb has found its bad guy, JoBlo are reporting, and it’s none other than Christ himself, Jim Caviezel. He’ll be providing the foil to the fearsome Arnold Schwarzenegger / Sylvester Stallone combo, who are playing against type as Ray Breslin and Church, hard-men inmates attempting to escape from a prison that Breslin (Stallone) designed himself. Caviezel is set to play the warden of the prison, with Canton revealing the casting on The Matthew Aaron Show.

Unlike the forthcoming The Expendables 2, The Tomb won’t be restricted to a PG-13 rating (thus removing any appeal it may have held in the first place), so The Tomb may find itself picking up disenchanted fans of the pensioners-with-assault rifles movie.

Caviezel has recently been starring in the CBS drama Person of Interest, while both Arnie and Stallone (who bizarrely found themselves sharing a hospital room recently) will next appear in this summer’s The Expendables 2 alongside Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jean Claude Van Damme and yes, Chuck Norris, whose insistence on a clean script is responsible for the film’s family friendly age-rating.

The Tomb will begin shooting this year with Mikael Håfström (1408, The Rite) handling directing duties, and is set for release in 2013.
