John Boyega eyeing Marvel role as Black Panther

July 23, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Not content with venturing to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: Episode VII, it seems that John Boyega is eyeing another Disney franchise, with the Attack the Block star taking to Twitter to express his interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Marvel role? Damn right I’m aiming for it,” said Boyega. “Currently booking flight to Wakanda.”

For those unaware, Wakanda is the home of T’Challa, a.k.a. the Black Panther, who made his debut way back in 1966 in Fantastic Four #52 and was one of the first characters earkmarked  for an adaptation back in 2005 when Marvel established itself as as a self-financing production studio.

Would John Boyega make a good fit for Black Panther, and do you think we’ll see the character finally getting his own movie when Marvel announces its Phase Three plans?
