Josh Brolin says Deadpool 2 has much more action than its predecessor

October 27, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With filming now having wrapped on Deadpool 2, Josh Brolin – who is taking on the role of Cable alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth – has been chatting to Collider about the hotly-anticipated sequel to last year’s hit X-Men spinoff, promising that the film will have much more in the way of action than its predecessor.

“I had heard somewhere along the line, and I think it’s okay for me to say this, but I heard somewhere along the line that they felt the first Deadpool didn’t have enough action,” said Brolin. “With this movie, it’s just a different deal. [Director David Leitch] embraces what he’s very good at, which I think is very smart. There’s ton of action in it. The tease is, a guy who’s 49 years old on the cusp of 50 who got in the best shape of his life, especially exteriorly, and I was extremely disciplined throughout that whole thing. I got beat to shit on that movie. That’s all I know. I had stuntmen throwing me all over the place.”

There’s certainly going to be high expectations for the action scenes in Deadpool 2, and given David Leitch’s work on John Wick, we could certainly be in for a treat when the sequel opens next year.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider), Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde) and Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on June 1st 2018.
