Joss Whedon to direct Batgirl, SUPER LONG runtime for Justice League, The Last Jedi promo art and more – Daily News Roundup

March 31, 2017 by admin

BUM-NUMBINGLY LONG

Well strap yourselves in folks, it looks like Zack Snyder’s Justice League is going to be a very long movie. If rumours are to be believed, Justice League will be TWO HOURS AND FIFTY MINUTES long. That’s twenty minutes longer than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now it should be noted that this comes from the movie’s IMBD page, which can be edited by any user. So take the news with a grain of salt for now (UPDATE: the rumour has now been debunked by Zack Snyder). Read more about that story here.

THE LAST JEDI

A new piece of promo art for Star Wars: The Last Jedi landed online yesterday featuring Rey, Finn, Poe and BB-8. Check it out here.

APES. TOGETHER. STRONGER.

As we reported yesterday, the first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes was released yesterday. Watch the trailer here.

JOSS WHEDON TURNS HIS BACK ON THE MCU

After directing The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron while overseeing Phase Two of the MCU, it was announced yesterday that Joss Whedon was heading to the DCEU to helm the Batgirl solo movie. He joins other directors including the rumoured Mel Gibson for Suicide Squad 2, David Ayer with Gotham City Sirens, the rumoured Matthew Vaughn for Man of Steel 2, Matt Reeves with The Batman and Chris McKay who is tapped to direct Nightwing. Read more about that story here.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP AND THE HAWKEYE

It looks like Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne may not be the only superheroes in action in Ant-Man and the Wasp, with a new report claiming that Jeremy Renner will be reprising the role of Hawkeye for the 2018 sequel. Read more about that story here.

SPIDER-MAN IN THE MCU NO MORE?

Yesterday we reported about Spider-Man possibly leaving the MCU following the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, but its star Tom Holland is unsure about the future. “I have no idea,” said Holland. “I haven’t read a script. I haven’t seen any sort of concept art, so that would be something I would decide on when I see material.” Uh-oh. This could be big trouble for Sony. Read more about that story here.

THE GOLDEN CIRCLE

20th Century Fox has released a teaser poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, director Matthew Vaughn’s follow-up to his hit 2014 spy comedy Kingsman: The Secret Service. Check it out here.

NO PITT FOR CABLE

After a week or so of rumours, it seems like Brad Pitt will not be taking on the role of Cable in Deadpool 2. “We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.” Read more about that story here.

ARTICLE OF THE DAY

Flickering Myth’s resident grump Anghus Houvouras is at it again, this time turning against critics focusing on the controversy surrounding Ghost in the Shell in their reviews rather than talking about the movie itself. Read that article here.
