Jumanji 3 set for holiday 2026 release with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black returning

October 29, 2024 by Ricky Church

Get ready to head back to the jungle. Five years after Jumanji: The Next Level hit theatres, Sony has now given a December 2026 release date for Jumanji 3 with stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black and director Jake Kasdan all returning for the new film.

The first Jumanji film was released in 1995 with Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce and Bonnie Hunt starring. It was about a mysterious magical board game that released wild animals and poisonous plants to life, forcing its players to finish the game to make them all go away and set things back to normal.

2017 saw the reboot sequel Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle made where the board game turned itself into a video game to attract new players, sucking them into its world and risking trapping them there forever. Johnson, Hart, Gillan and Black played the adult avatars of the teenaged players. 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level saw the kids return to the video game to rescue their friend and the film concluded with the tease that, like the first film, the animals had been released from Jumanji and the kids would potentially have to get them back inside.

The films also starred Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner as the young teenagers playing Jumanji with Nick Jonas, Rhys Darby and Colin Hanks rounding out the cast. The Next Level introduced Awkafina, Danny DeVito and Donald Glover as new players and avatars for the game.

Jumanji 3 is scheduled for a December 11th, 2026 release. Johnson and Kasdan will produce alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Matt Tolmach.
