Kate Winslet will reunite with James Cameron for Avatar sequels

October 4, 2017 by Ricky Church

James Cameron has begun production on his ambitious sequels for Avatar, but that apparently hasn’t stopped him from adding cast members to the films. Now, according to Deadline, Cameron is set to reunite with an actress from his second-highest grossing movie, with Kate Winslet joining Avatar 2 and its sequels – marking the the first time she and Cameron have worked together since 1997’s Titanic – with Winslet set to play a character named Ronal.

“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron said. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

Its unknown right now if Winslet will be playing a human character or a member of a Na’vi clan. Last week Cameron revealed the group of young actors who will be playing the children of Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana’s Jake Sully and Neytiri.

The Avatar sequels feature returning cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Matt Gerald, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, while new additions to the cast include Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Filip Geljo, Jamie Flatters, Bailey Bass, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, and Duane Evans Jr. Avatar 2 will open on December 18th 2020, followed by Avatar 3 on December 17th 2021, Avatar 4 on December 20th 2024 and Avatar 5 on December 19th 2025.
