Laurence Fishburne doesn’t expect to get Man of Steel 2 call after turning down Justice League

July 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having portrayed Daily Planet editor in chief Perry White in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, actor Laurence Fishburne thinks his time in the DC Extended Universe may be over – and not because he’s made the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but rather because he had to pass on Justice League.

“I don’t think I’m still on call,” Fishburne told Den of Geek. “I was unfortunately unable to go do some work on what turned out to be the Justice League movie. I don’t know that I need to go back or if they’ll have me back or not, but I was grateful to have been a part of it. I loved working with Zack Snyder, I think he makes an incredible superhero movie. I’m just excited to be a part of [the MCU] now.”

Asked if he knew anything about Warner Bros.’ rumoured plans for a Man of Steel 2, Fishburne went on to add that: “I don’t. I don’t. I haven’t heard anything about it. They just fell behind the eight-ball. I really wish they had started 20 years ago. But that’s all right, they’re where they are.”

Fishburne can currently be seen as Bill Foster in the Marvel Studios sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, and recently expressed his interest in returning to the role and “suiting up” as his character’s alter-ego Goliath. He has also stated that he’d been keen to lend his voice to Galactus in the MCU, and is working with Marvel and Disney Channels Worldwide on an animated adaptation of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Will you be disappointed if we’ve seen the last of Fishburne’s Perry White in the DCEU? Let us know in the comments below…
