Luke Evans says he won’t be doing The Crow remake “in the near future”

January 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Relativity Media certainly hasn’t had a smooth ride when it comes to its long-planned remake of The Crow, with the project passing through the hands of several filmmaker before settling upon its latest director Corin Hardy (The Hallow), who signed on to the project in December.

At the time, Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies) stated that “I can’t wait much longer” with regards to the film moving forward with him in the title role of Eric Draven, and now Evans has given another update to HitFix and it doesn’t sound too promising for anyone hoping to see James O’Barr’s creation back on the big screen any time soon:

“Right now I’m not sure where it is, I don’t know what’s happening with it. I think it’s a question probably to ask Relativity…they’re the ones who are really holding the strings to this story and this character. But yeah, I don’t think it’s gonna be something I’m gonna be doing for a while. I’ve got about four or five different projects which I’m lining up for this year, which will take up the majority of my 12 months. So not in the near future, unfortunately.”

Despite that, Evans still seems open to taking on the role, adding that: “It’ll be a different concept, a different director, a different script, and who knows where it will go? I mean, when I was in conversations with everybody it was about being as honourable to the book and loyal to the book as possible. And that meant it would be a very different film to the one that was made with Brandon Lee. Which was a good thing in a way.”

Are you hopeful that The Crow will move ahead with Luke Evans?
